If you told me a year ago that, in a year’s time, I would be attending something called a “rally,” and that I would love it enough to write a whole article about all the things I learned – I probably would nodded politely.
So what’s a rally, you ask?
Let’s get some of the FAQs out of the way:
What is a Young Living Rally?
Once every quarter, Young Living holds – what I would best describe as – a “meet-up” that allows all their members and potential members to come together all over the world to feel inspired and get informed.
It’s a day focused on education, empowerment, and energetic positivity.
Why did I attend a rally in New Jersey?
The short answer is that it is the one closest to where I live.
Medium answer: my closest up-line support is in Kentucky and I decided not to spend the required bandwidth on that kind of trip this quarter.
There is another answer which goes something like: There is not yet a Manhattan organizer – yet. Stay tuned 😉
What I learned at the Spring Young Living Rally
1. Our intention creates our reality
The first speaker blew me away, right off the bat. A lady names Liz Garrett spoke about the power of intention on our lives.
i). The Brain: Liz compared the brain to a computer – only way more powerful. It is unmatched in processing power yet, similarly it uses programs for efficiency. Have you taken time to choose the program your brain runs on or are you still running on some old programs from your past that no longer serve you?
ii). The Heart: Did you know the magnetic energy of the heart is 5000 times more powerful than that of the brain?
In addition, the heart’s electric energy field out performs the brain by a factor of 100.
When you stand up with your arms reached out wide on either side of you, that’s how far your heart waves travel. Your energetic field is broadcasting your truth into the world.
This is why intention is key: it keeps you in energetic alignment, provides guidance and makes sure you maintain your integrity.
Intention starts with WORDS – keep your intention in front of you, because wherever you direct your attention – you intention will follow!
iii). The Struggle: is REAL!!! Or is it?
According to Liz, struggle is over-rated. I like this assessment.
She went on to say that the presence of struggle is an indication that your ego has become a little too engaged.
A great way to snap out of that downward spiral is with the simple mantra:
“In this moment, I choose gratitude”
And if you’re REALLY REALLY STRUGGLING? Pretend. Sometimes, the best way to take your ego offline is to pretend that everything is going well. That first step is the hardest, but if you can get there, your downward spiral will start to reverse into an upward spiral.
Liz’s last point was connecting all this together with the only sense of the original five that has the power to bypass your analytical brain. Every time.
iv). The SENSE of smell: is the only sense that has a direct line to our emotional brain. All other senses get processed though the analytical first. Smell activates our emotions, and engages our heart.
What if we tied intention to our sense of smell?
2. We Are Changing The World!
For our last session of the day we got to meet Young Living’s Chief Supply Officer, Lauren Walker – and what she shared with us blew me away.
This is the BOMB!!
As Lauren said:
“Its not about money, its about doing the right thing.”
Check out our 5 x 5 pledge:
This is Young Living’s strategy and business plan for the next five years. Notice what you don’t see as part of their 5 year strategy:
Did you know Young Living had a foundation which currently changes thousands of lives every year by empowering the underserved, including rescuing women and children from human trafficking and providing families with tools to prevent malaria?
Well they do, and it is AWESOME:
100% of our donations go to the charity – because they take zero administrative costs from donations.
In the next 5 years, their goal is to reach 5x as many people through the foundation than they have until now.
ii. Zero Waste
In five years, Young Living will take all global operations to zero waste status, and will strive to offset our carbon footprint through our vast network of partner and corporate farms.
Wow! I was blown away by this one. Way to go Young Living!
They have built a beautiful, state of the art zero waste new headquarters building in Utah, that I will get to visit during my trip to the Grand Convention this summer. Find out more about that here.
With every new market Young Living opens, we open doors of wellness and empowerment to new members in that market and to talented new employees who are passionate about making a positive impact.
Our mission is to allow more people than ever to experience whole-life wellness through becoming a part of the Young Living family.
The plan is to open at least five new markets each year over the next five years.
We are passionate about collaborating with nature to bring our members the purest products on Earth. Our farms are the heart of our Seed to Seal commitment, and they will forever be part of our DNA.
Our farms help us create a more stable and controlled supply chain, allow us to stay on the forefront of essential oil research, and empower our members with the knowledge of where their oils originate.
Each year for the next five years, we will develop five or more of these beautiful corporate-owned and partner farms.
v. Five million additional households
As we expand our positive impact through philanthropy, green initiatives, new farms, and new markets, our reach will also increase.
Gary Young dedicated his life to bringing essential oils to every home in the world – and because we are committed to dramatically furthering that vision, we pledge to reach 5 million more households within five years.
As Lauren also said:
“No other essential oils company is doing this”
3. Young Living Farms are THE BEST
I’ve known this already from my past visit to a Young Living farm in Mona, Utah. However hearing Lauren Walker, Young Living’s chief supply officer speak on this was truly transformational.
There are 3 types of Young Living (YL) Farms
- Corporate: YL owned, all people who work there are YL employees (this includes the Mona farm which I visited)
- Partner : An extension of YL and operates in a very close relationship with Young Living.
- Seed to Seal approved suppliers: – Currently undergoing the process to become partner farms.
All of the above farms are 100% audited and Seed to Seal Certified.
Did you know that Young Living has the only US approved program for testing methodology???
It’s called the Seed to Seal certification.
Learn all about Seed to Seal and it’s three pillars here.
4. Young Living is launching some AMAZING new products
Here are some of my favorites:
I am beyond excited about this one and have already ordered it 🙈
Using Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood essential oil on my skin has been so amazingly moisturizing and nourishing – I can’t get enough of it. The oil is very thick, so I always need to dilute, and it’s also not the cheapest one out there.
The hydrosol will it make oh so easy to apply, carry with me, and have all the amazing properties of this magical oil at hand at all times.
Repurposing hydrosol, is also another step toward Young Living’s pledge to be waste free in the next 5 years – more on this later!
If you’d like to know a little more about the story of Young Living’s Royal Hawian Sandalwood, I recommend this podcast.
All make up remover wipes suck. Full stop. They irritate my skin, cause it to be too dry and they’re not good for the planet – until now.
I am so excited to try these brand new wipes that don’t contain any of the yuck AND are 100% biodegradable and vegan!
I do not clean my brushes often enough. I know that I should, but it’s just too much of a hassle.
We got a little tutorial of these two products at the rally and I’m so excited to do a little tutorial of my own once I get my hands on them.
My brushes (as well as my skin) will definitely thank me!
I do LOVE body butter.
So, it’s no surprise that this collection of four different body butters definitely caught my eye.
Valor body butter? Yes please!
Skin is our largest organ and absorbs everything we put on it right into the bloodstream. I love knowing that there is nothing harmful in these, and that I can rest easy knowing my body will thank me.
Also. I may be mistaken, but I think Mother’s Day is around the corner…
5. Dream 1000
As if I needed any more motivation after the 5 x 5 challenge, Young Living is treating us to an amazing summer challenge for the next 3 months:
Who wants to go to Hawaii with me? 🙋🏻♀️More info on this soon!0
