Spring is upon us! – along with cleaning out our homes, and removing all those dust bunnies – it’s time to dust off our beauty routine too.
So many products that women use on a daily basis contain chemicals and substances that simply do not belong in personal care products. Taking care of yourself means being aware of the contents inside the products that you’re putting on your skin – and determining whether they are helpful, or harmful.
For me, turning to nature is always the answer. God gave us so many different plants, trees and flowers and I believe that they are all intended for us to use for our health and benefit.
Here is what my daily evening routine consist off:
1. Diffuser on
This is how I set the mood before bedtime. As my evening is starting to wind down and I’m getting ready for bed, I place 3-4 drops of Peace & Calming essential oil blend in my diffuser.
This is a blend of Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli & Blue Tansy (hence it’s deep blue color). The combination of those essential oils is perfect for calming the nerves or emotions at the end of a long day and is particularly relaxing before bed.
2. Make a relaxing beverage
In the winter, this will usually be a hot tea. Lately I’ve been obsessed with “Queendom Reign” by Lodestone (my favorite tea company founded by a dear friend and excellent tea sommelier, Laura Cepeda).
3. Take the day off
Next, I cleanse my face. My skin is sensitive and does not do well with harsh facial wash. For that reason, I choose Orange Blossom Facial Wash.
Made from 100 percent naturally derived ingredients, this face wash for sensitive skin reduces surface oils and removes dirt and makeup without making your skin feel overly dry or tight.
Orange Blossom Facial Wash is a hypoallergenic, gentle face wash for oily skin and leaves behind no pore-clogging residue, so it will perfectly complement your daily skin care regimen.
4. Steam time
Depending on how late it is, I will either take a shower or preferably a hot bath. Baths are my favorite, as I get to add a variety of essential oils along with epsom salts, for a perfectly relaxing experience.
Some of my favorite bath oils:
Some of the benefits & features of Lavender essential oil:
• Promotes feelings of calm and fights occasional
• Has balancing properties that calm the mind
• Cleanses and soothes minor skin irritations
• Reduces the appearance of blemishes
• Supports aging skin
• Includes the naturally occurring constituents linalyl
acetate, linalool, and ocimene
Release is a blend of Ylang Ylang, Lavandin, Geranium, Sandalwood & Blue Tansy. It has a relaxing aroma that facilitates the ability to let go of anger and frustration. It also promotes harmony and balance.
Lavender Bath Bombs
Made with Lavender oil and Stress Away essential oil, these essential oil bath bombs are a fun, fizzy way to unwind. They are filled with nourishing ingredients and no unwanted additives.
These natural bath bombs are made without colorants, synthetic preservatives, parabens, or animal-derived ingredients, making them some of the best bath bombs you can get your hands on!
Instead of artificial ingredients and harsh chemicals, these vegan bath bombs are made with a mineral-rich formula and skin-loving ingredients, such as coconut oil and sweet almond oil. That means they’re not only fun and relaxing—they also leave skin soft, smooth, and moisturized.
Falling asleep after taking an essential oils bath is the most delightful experience.
Stress Away is a blend of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Ocotea, Lavender & Vanilla. And the name says it all. It’s well rounded aroma promotes relaxation and lets all stress melt away.
5. Pamper my skin
Next, I ensure my skin has all it needs to regenerate while I sleep. One of my favorite things is a DIY skin serum that is so simple to make.
DIY Skin Serum
The most simple recipe for a facial oil you can find:
- 2oz fatty oil of choice – I like Argan Oil or Rosehip Oil
- 15 drops Frankincense (get yours here)
- 10 drops Lavender (get yours here)
Mix all ingredients in a bottle with a dropper. Use morning & night after cleansing your face.
6. Sweet Dreams
This roller contains a blend of Ruta Graveolens, Valerian and Lavender. Ruta oil is not only very relaxing to the body and mind but also rebalancing to the energy levels of the body. When coupled with lavender & valerian (both of which are known for their sedative properties), this blend becomes both relaxing and revitalizing to the entire body, while calming stressed nerves and inducing a better quality of sleep.
I apply it on the insides of my wrists & bottoms of feet just before turning out the lights and cuddling up.1
